Skiing in Zermatt is probably the most expensive way to pursue this sport in the Alps. We thought that we should do this at least once during our live time. We rented a tiny room in the Zermatt Youth Hostel and bought ski tickets for more than CHF 100 per day. Despite Christmas time, almost all skiing lifts were open, we had good weather and always a spectacular view on the Matterhorn. The Swiss side and the Italian side provide all good skiing, but we preferred the Italian side with its longer and wider slopes. We met a friend of us with her eleven years old daughter, which was about to learn skiing there. So, each of us became a skiing teacher for a few hours as well.
